Work Look: 50’s Inspired Sock Hop

Traditionally sock hops were dances in the 50’s that took place largely in high school gymnasiums and the dance got it’s name because students were required to remove their hard soled shoes to protect the gym floor.

I wore this outfit to work this past week and realized by adding white socks with my shoes it really gave the outfit a 50’s sock hop feel. The 50’s is truly my favourite decade for fashion so it’s not surprising I subconsciously put together an outfit inspired by the generation. I love the versatility of the camel colour in my skirt and how it perfectly matches the colour of my shoes. Adding the brightly coloured crop top with the outfit gives it a more modern spin.

I wish I had of come home and jived to some 50’s tunes! Next time I wear the outfit I’ll have to.
